In our first season as members of the Sun Belt Conference, the Bobcats have been picked to finish fourth in the coaches poll. Coming off of a 29-29 campaign in 2013, the Bobcats have high high hopes for this season with a good recruiting class coming in to replace the 6 seniors we lost to graduation.
In the conference preview, Louisiana-Lafayette received 8 out of a possible 10 first place votes with South Alabama and Troy rounding out the top three. The poll and article from the Sub Belt can be found here. Two Texas State player’s were named preseason 2nd team all-conference, 1B/DH Austin O’Neal (hit .322 in 2013) and RF Cody Lovejoy (hit .337 in 2013).
The first opportunity to see the 2014 Bobcats in action is this Friday at 3:30pm at Bobcat Ballpark, when they take on the Michigan Wolverines as part of the Texas State Baseball Invitational. The Bobcats will take on the Washington Huskies at 2pm on Saturday and play the Air Force Falcons on Sunday at 3:30pm. The weather is suppose to be nice this weekend, so if you get a chance be sure to come out to Bobcat Ballpark. I will give my first recap of a game following Michigan on Friday.
